Hello and welcome to my blog! I created this blog as a way to share ideas, tips and tricks for things I’ve learned (and am currently learning!) along the way in the classroom as a middle school english teacher. This blog will serve as a platform of discussion, and hopefully as a source of inspiration, for others who wish to continuously increase their effectiveness in the classroom (a goal of mine!), as well as gain more financial freedom through blogging. I’ve also recently expanded my blog to talk about politics–issues that are affecting teachers in the classroom. If I truly want this to be “A Blog for Teachers”, I felt like this was a necessary step.
My name is Kelsey, and I’m living in Louisville, KY with my husband, Taylor, and our dog, Miss Charles Barkley.
I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.A. in Political Science in May of 2011, and then moved to Houston, TX as a part of the Teach for America-Houston 2011 corps. I taught 8th grade English Language Arts for 2 years before moving back to Kentucky where I took a job out of education. I absolutely loved teaching, but was curious and felt at the time I needed to work in the Political Science field to fulfill my curiosity. After 1.5 years, I really missed working with middle school kids and made my way back to a middle school classroom. I’m no expert when it comes to teaching, but I really enjoy searching for, discussing, and sharing all things education that can not only help me become a better teacher, but can benefit my kids as well.
Thanks for visiting! Can’t wait to connect with y’all!
