It is no secret that the majority of many bloggers’ traffic comes from Pinterest. For me, 95% of this blog’s traffic comes from Pinterest! With a bit of luck and by paying attention to trends, one can have a pin go viral. However, while that is awesome, it is not a sustainable model for a blogger or TPTer to bank on. For a blogger or seller to receive consistent and measured traffic from Pinterest, they need a consistent and measured Pinterest strategy.
Keeping up with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest can definitely be a time suck and exhausting if you’re constantly spinning your wheels with no real approach. When I first started my blog I felt like I really needed to up my Pinterest game, as I would manually pin a bunch of things at once to random boards just whenever I had time. It was exhausting, not sustainable, and I believe even led to me losing Pinterest followers because I was flooding boards when I manually pinned. But, then I found Tailwind! Tailwind has since been an answer to my prayers in terms of helping me be consistent and really figure out what works for my blog + business on Pinterest.
What is Tailwind?
Tailwind is essentially a content scheduler for Pinterest (that keeps getting better and better!). It allows you to schedule multiple pins to multiple boards relatively easily so you can “set it and forget it”!
Tailwind also has two (somewhat new) features called “Tailwind Tribes” and “Smart Loop” that can help you be even smarter and more efficient on Pinterest.
What are Tailwind Tribes?
Tailwind Tribes are basically groups you can join with other pinners on Tailwind to pool your content together. Once in a tribe, you will share your content with the idea that you will also schedule/share content within the tribe. This feature has really helped bloggers/TPTers (1) share their resources and (2) find other relevant content to share on their Pinterest boards for consistent sharing! Working together in tribes really helps bloggers and sellers grow more quickly together.
How Do I Find Tailwind Tribes?
On the left-hand menu, you will click the icon that looks like people. This will take you to your tribes. Once you’re in your tribe section, you can click “Find a Tribe”.
Once you’re in the “Find a Tribe” section, you can click popular topics (like Education!) and search keywords to find relevant tribes. Once you narrow down which ones you’d like to join you can either click to join automatically (if it is an open tribe), or you can click to request to join. If you request to join, the “owner” of the tribe will get a notification to accept you to the group.
What is Smart Loop?
Smart Loop is a place you can pin “evergreen” or seasonal content. If you mark it to “Smart Loop” then it will automatically be set to loop on the boards you select and will re-pin periodically without you even having to queue it up again!
This feature has been so great for me. On hectic weeks where I can’t quite spend the time I want setting up my Tailwind, I know that my Smart Loop is still set to go and my account will still be actively pinning my best stuff!
